Logan County Engineer
Scott Coleman was elected Logan County Engineer in 2001 and is serving his sixth term in office. Scott was born and raised in Bellefontaine. He then attended The Ohio State University to study civil engineering. Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and later completed a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in the field of Hydraulics and Hydrology .
Scott began his career at the Logan County Engineer’s office in the summer of 1990. During his first two summers of employment, he installed survey monument boxes on the county highways. In the summer of 1992, he worked on the survey crew. Scott then went to work for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in the summer of 1993.
In 1994, Scott again returned to Logan County as an Engineer Intern, Assistant Engineer and Chief Deputy Engineer. Scott’s primary responsibilities were to design roads, bridges and drainage structures. He has also worked on the Bell Lake Dam repair, the Perry Township salt shed, township and village paving projects, and specifications and review of the digital aerial photography of the county in 1996 and 2005. Scott oversaw the digitizing of the county’s property tax maps and implementation of a Geographical Information System for the Map Room and the Auditor’s office.
Scott is registered as a Professional Engineer and a Professional Surveyor with the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors of the State of Ohio. Locally, Scott graduated from Leadership Logan County, served as an officer for the Bellefontaine Elks Lodge, served as a member of The Ohio State University Extension Advisory Committee for Logan, serves as an officer for The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Logan County, serves on the Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission and is a past president, assisted with a past update of the Ohio Department of Transportation Bridge Inspection Manual, Ohio Council of County Officials (OCCO) past secretary/treasurer and past president. Scott serves as the bridge committee co-chair, OCCO delegate, salary committee chair, recognition committee co-chair, ways and means committee and District 7 Director for the County Engineer's Association of Ohio and was named their 2013 County Engineer of the Year. Scott is active on the structure committee and the pavement preservation committee of the National Association of County Engineers. He is a certified shooting sports instructor for 4-H, adult leader in Boy Scouts, and has coached several youth sports.
Scott and his wife Audreau reside outside of Bellefontaine. Audreau graduated from Ohio Dominican College with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and later completed a degree as a surgical technician. She works at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Scott and Audreau have three children and enjoy camping, swimming, shooting sporting clays, travelling, and working and playing with their children.
