Mike Pniewski, P.E., P.S.
Lucas County Engineer

Mike Pniewski, P.E., P.S. currently serves as the elected Lucas County Engineer.  He was elected to the position in 2020 and leads a staff of 70 people who are responsible for over 280 miles of roadway, 160 bridges, 250 culverts and 210 miles of storm drains in the unincorporated areas of Lucas County, Ohio.  Previously, Mike was the Chief Deputy Engineer of the Lucas County Engineer’s Office for almost three years.  His prior 25 years of experience includes serving as the Western Lake Erie Basin Program Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managing large scale public works projects and engineering studies in Northwest Ohio and around the Nation.   He also served as a Consulting Engineer at various engineering firms in Arizona and Michigan. 

Mike holds a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying from Michigan Technological University as well as an MBA from Bowling Green State University.  He also is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College.  Mike has served as an adjunct professor in Civil Engineering and Land Surveying at several institutions of higher learning and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Toledo where he teaches classes in Civil Engineering and Land Surveying.    Mike is also active in professional activities and is Chair of the Legislative Committee for the National Association of County Engineers, the Region 3 Governor for the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the President for the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Public Works Association.
